Mobile Internet - A Serious Disruptive Technology
Mobile internet technology is emerging as fastest growing technology in the world and this technology allows user to access internet through portable and handheld devices. The portable devices includes laptop, tablets, and netbook computers, smartphones, global positioning system (GPS) devices, wireless debit/credit card payment terminals etc. The power of these portable devices are enormous that allows user to download various applications from a world of application repositories.

Now days, mobile devices are preferred over personal computer for people's daily job completion. Based on quarter 1, 2014, where the total mobile internet users have grown over last 1 year. Tablet and Smartphone users had made up 52% of all users in this category. As of 2013, worldwide mobile phone internet user penetration was 73.4 percent. In 2017, figures suggest that more than 90 percent of internet users will access online content through their mobile phone.
Mobile internet usage has become an integral part of people's daily life. It enables consumers to access online information, interacting in social media, doing business online, getting updates on the go. Statistics shows that mobile phone penetration worldwide is 51% while in Hong Kong, Italy and Ukraine has passed 140%.
In many developing countries where people don't have access to desktop or laptop computer, uses mobile phone for connecting to internet. They are using various services through mobile internet such as daily banking, paying bills, connecting with people. With mobile-oriented services like WhatsApp, WeChat, and Facebook Messenger achieving the top social media ranking spots in some of the world's biggest economies and through these mobile-oriented services, it changes the way people use the internet.
